We drove past Fish River canyon, then Clanwilliam and back to Cape Town.
After a lunch of fish and ships surrounded by cheeky seagulls we spent the afternoon desperately shopping for gifts before retiring to an Irish Pub to recover. Later on met the group to return to the House of Meat from the first night, where I tucked into 1.2kg of meat – Ostrich, Springbok shank, Warthog ribs, Eland and a Game goulash.
The next morning I regretted the big meal as we boarded a boat to Robben Island, the ex-prison housing a number of political prisoners including Nelson Mandela. Our guide for the visit was an ex inmate, who vividly described his torture and the murder of his family.
